Louise Makin – Assistant Care Coordinator
Team Member at Support for Independence (since 2019)
Louise Makin began her journey with Support for Independence in 2019 as a dedicated Rehabilitation Support Worker. Her natural empathy, determination, and growing expertise led her to progress into the role of Assistant Care Coordinator in 2023—an achievement that reflects her strong commitment to both personal and professional development.
Throughout her time with SFI, Louise has embraced every opportunity to grow, learning not only about the complexities of her role but also gaining valuable insights into herself. She continues to evolve and develop every day, bringing both curiosity and compassion to her work. In her role, Louise supports the coordination and delivery of care packages that are responsive, personalised, and client-focused. She works closely with support workers, care coordinators, and wider professionals to ensure every client receives the highest standard of care.
Louise is no stranger to the daily challenges that come with coordinating care in complex cases—but she is equally driven by the moments of progress, no matter how small, that clients achieve. Witnessing positive change, often made possible by the efforts of the support workers and wider multidisciplinary team, is what inspires her to keep moving forward. She values the strong network around her at SFI, where collaboration and teamwork help navigate even the toughest days.
Outside of work, Louise enjoys staying active and plays recreational football as a goalkeeper at Gigg Lane—a fun and energetic outlet that reflects her team spirit and resilience both on and off the pitch.
