Full Biography

My name is Jo Seedle. I presently hold a reduced hours post with RFI as a specialist occupational therapist. I undertake sensory assessments with children aged 3 to 6.

I have worked and have had involvement with RFI since the start of the company. I have worked specifically in an advisory position initially and then as a part time therapist.

I  qualified as an Occupational Therapist from Salford University in 1983 and have worked across many OT areas within the NHS. These included generic adult rehab, stroke rehab, orthopaedics, rheumatology and burns.  I worked for 12 years in mental health and then moved into paediatrics for 21 years which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I held the post of Clinical Lead/Team Leader for the Pre-School team managing staff over East Lancashire with their assessment and intervention with referred pre-school children. This was for a period of 5 years.

Following a restructure, I was successful at interview in achieving a Team Coordinators position in the new structure of Children’s Integrated Therapies and Nursing Service which took me away from clinical duties into service development with clear line management responsibility for a team of 34 mixed therapists, from OT and SLT backgrounds and Special School Nursing.

I am exceptionally proud to be able to say that I have been an OT for 42 years and have always worked within the profession, either full or part time.

I consider that, as the years have passed, I have become an experienced and effective communicator with excellent inter-personal skills in supervision and communication and in working with vulnerable parents and children.  I consider that I am articulate, clear and concise in my verbal communication, reporting and documentation.  I try to bring out the best in clients and their families by a positive approach and appropriate encouragement and participation in their advice,  treatment or recovery.

Away from my profession, I have been married for 40 years this year!! I’m pretty proud of that too!! I have 3 precious daughters and I am a proud and involved grandmother of 4. I enjoy gardening, interior design, walking, meeting friends, eating out and holidays. I  have an interest in Zumba which I enjoy weekly and cricket through my husband and grandchildren.
