Full Biography

Hannah graduated as an Occupational Therapist from the University of Bradford with first class honours. Hannah has a special interest in Ayres’ Sensory Integration and is currently studing for an MSc in Sensory Integration.

Prior to joining the team at Rehabilitation for Independence Hannah was the clinical team leader of an acute medical Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy team. This role involved providing specialist Occupational Therapy support and completing therapy assessment of adults with a range of medical conditions and complex clinical presentations. Speciality areas included – Elderly, Dementia, Gastroenterology, Endocrine, Cardiology and Respiratory. Hannah was responsible for the continued development of multidisciplinary team working, pastoral care, supervision, appraisal and professional and service development initiatives in relation to quality improvement.

Hannah previously worked on a paediatric integrated therapy and school nursing team. Hannah empowered and motivated children, parents, carers, and teachers to engage in therapy programs, achieve their goals and succeed in rehabilitation. Completion of moving and handling and environmental risk assessments helped support applications for disabled facility grants. Hannah facilitated groups for pre-schoolers in the child development centre and worked in the community visiting children at home, nursery and school. Hannah regularly provided advice on pain management and energy conservation strategies to maintain performance during school and extra curriculum activities. This role involved designing individualised rehabilitation programmes for children with mixed diagnosis including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Hypermobility, Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, Spinal Muscular Atrophy and Developmental Coordination Disorder.
