Gemma Wynne-Jones

Hi, I'm Gemma, and I work as a Care Coordinator at Support for Independence. I joined the organisation in August 2025. I started my career as a Qualified Counsellor in 2009, which led me into Independent Advocacy. I spent many years in Higher Management, supporting complex care services in many different specialisms, including Mental Health/Capacity Advocacy, both forensic and acute, Housing Services, and Mental Health Carers. My career path led me to spend several years supporting children and young people with complex mental health care needs, working as a Child/Young Person Mental Health Practitioner.

My role as the Care Coordinator for acquired brain injury consists of managing tailored rehabilitation support packages. I act as the main point of contact, answering concerns and exploring changing care plans with clients, families, support workers, and clinical specialists, such as OTs and Case Managers.

I love my role as a Care Coordinator as I get to see progression in a client's rehabilitation through the hard work of all involved. My other favourite part of this role is supporting the staff and listening to their stories about the rehabilitation work they do as a team with clients.

Out of work, I love getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre and escaping to a beach or forest with my kids.
